I was talking to a friend today, and discovered that she works with someone that I used to go to school with. I enquired about him and found out that not only is he alive and well (which I honestly didnt know) but he is now more than ever open to Christ.
What you have to understand is that when I went to school with him, he scared me more than anyone I then knew. He was into a lot of "things" that I didnt like, and although he was nice, I really did not want to talk to him at all. All this time I knew that he needed Jesus, and that I had Jesus, but I was just too scared to talk to him, and by the time that I had the courage to do so, he was gone.
But God, is good. After he finished school, he began working with a friend of mine, and she was willing to talk to him about Jesus, and did so every day. He no longer works with her, but they still keep in contact, and through her I was able to contact him as well. I have since discovered that he is very open to Christ and the gospel, and that he knows he is in sin and wants forgiveness, he wants to change. I am so glad that God sees on the inside, and not on the outside, because so often it is the people who you least expect who are the first to change. But here is the kicker...not only is this man closer than ever to having a life altering experience with the Most High King, that same King was willing to let me in on it, and see him change.
God does not look at our mistakes, He is not afraid of them, and not only does He forgive them, but He redeems them, and changes their outcome. The Bible says that "God causes all things to be for good, for those who love Him." I am just so blessed that God has allowed me to see the change in someone who I knew. It makes me realize that even if you dont see the results of whitnessing to someone, you should do it anyway, and that you never know where people are. I am reminded of a story which I will now share...
There was a man in the 1800s who felt that God was telling him to rent the town squair, and hold revival meetings every night. Although he did not believe that anything would come of it, he went to the Mayor, and got permission to use the building. No one believed that anything would happen, but he knew that it was more important to obey God. So, he got up that Monday morning and went to the Town Squair, (where no one was gathered) and preached his heart out. The next day he went again and the same thing happened. The entire week went by and he preached every day, though no one came, and when it was over, he went his way. But there was one thing that he did not know, there was a homeless man who lived under the building, who would listen every day, and on the last day gave his heart to Jesus, and that man became one of the greates revival preachers in American history, his name was John Wesely.
So I say again, God is good.

I have been reminded of the importance of witnessing during the last couple days. I stop by a local grocery store almost every day to buy a salad at the salad bar. There has been a man about 40 years old with a beard that has started ringing the bells for the Salvation Army. There are many things that the world honors for men who are 40 years old to do...Dr., attorney, even pastor, but bell ringer doesn't usually come to mind. However, the man is a very public witness to Christ in love. I am sure if he were called home today Jesus would be very proud of him for how he spent his time, probably much more so than some rich and famous people. I thank God for his witness.
